The explosive HBO drama series Succession is already three episodes into its fourth and final season. Since 2018, Succession has followed the personal and professional affairs of Logan Roy, the founder of a fictitious media conglomerate Waystar-Royco, played by Brian Cox. Three of Logan’s four adult children, Kendall, Roman, and Shiv, plot to win over and often deceive Logan in various ways throughout the series trying to become the heir of the Waystar cooperation. Logan’s other son, who he had in another marriage, isn’t concerned with running the family business, which is why Connor could win in the end.
Succession season 4 has already provided the HBO series with some of its most intricate character moments and shocking plot developments. The big twist in Succession season 4, episode 3, which aired Sunday, April 9, 2023, has forced the Roy family to face challenges in ways they have yet to encounter during the entire series thus far. It would appear that Succession creator Jesse Armstrong is sticking to his original intention of closing out the coveted series with an appropriate bang that would ensure Succession’s legacy as one of HBO’s best original shows.
Succession Season 4 Has 7 Episodes Left (From 10 Total)
Succession season 4 is currently three episodes into its fourth and final season, leaving only 7 episodes left from its usual total of 10. Season 3 was the only exception to the show’s 10-episode format, finishing in December 2021 with 9 one-hour long episodes. This means that the entire Succession series will have 39 total episodes, which is a standard format for premium drama series that is especially common on HBO. With most episodes of Succession averaging just above an hour per episode, it’s safe to assume that there are slightly more than seven hours of Succession left before the entire series concludes this year.
When The Succession Season 4 Finale Releases
The Succession series finale is slated for Sunday, May 28, 2023 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The series can be streamed on HBO Max or watched on HBO through a cable provider. Each episode premieres at the same time each week and can be streamed anytime on HBO Max or HBO On Demand following its 9 p.m. original debut. Succession can also be streamed on Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, and YouTube TV through premium subscription services. Seasons 1-3 of Succession are fully available to stream on HBO and HBO Max.
Why Succession Season 4 Is The Last One
Although fans and some of the actors themselves have expressed interest in continuing Succession past season 4, Armstrong has confirmed that the current season will be the show’s last. Armstrong is more interested in giving Succession the quality ending it deserves more than dragging the show out with more seasons. HBO may have granted Armstrong the opportunity to make Succession season 5 and possibly another to boot, but it seems the creator has elected to keep the show as a four-season story. He feels that there’s a promise in the title of Succession and a responsibility to quit while the series is at its highest point.
