Using the Frostbite armor set in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom can prove to be a useful strategy when looking to use ice attacks against opponents. While the element can come from many distinct sources, the Frostbite set can provide it effortlessly whenever Link is in a cold environment. This is a great way to use ice attacks and take advantage of the climate for extra damage.
It is important to point out that the gear does not grant Cold Resistance to Hyrule’s hero, as the Snowquill set does. The Frostbite set, one of the best armor sets in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is made out of three distinct pieces: the Frostbite Trousers, the Frostbite Shirt, and the Frostbite Headdress. By equipping all pieces, players activate the set’s bonus, which makes charge attacks faster in cold weather and creates an icy burst at the end of a combo or charged attack.
How To Get Frostbite Trousers In Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom
The pieces of the Frostbite set in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom can be collected in any desired order, as they are not sequentially related. Players get hints from NPCs regarding their location, but it is much easier to head straight to the place where each one is. It is relatively easy to collect all Frostbite armor pieces, as they do not require much. The most troublesome to gather is the Frostbite Trousers item, as it is hidden in a cave with low temperature, which will require some Cold Resistance countermeasures, either through gear or potions.
As demonstrated by ConCon on YouTube, players must head to the northwest portion of the map and locate the Hebra Headspring Cave in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Its exact location is -2922, 2515, 0393. The best way to find this place is by locating a stream of water that creates the nearby river. Inside the cave, players will need to dispose of the two Ice Keese to be able to proceed. Once that is done, they can start climbing the pillars spread throughout the cave.
You can only climb on the whitened portion of the pillars, as Link will slide down if he grabs onto the icy parts.
The main pillar is located in the center of the cave, and players can climb up on it easily after dealing with the Ice Keese or use its strategic position to eliminate enemies, as shown by ConCon. At the far north end of the Hebra Headspring Cave is an entrance, where the chest with the Frostbite Trousers item in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is stashed away.
Players will have to cross over and reach the climbable part, either by constructing something with the ice blocks in the water or, as demonstrated by ConCon, by using Tulin’s power to create a wind draft which helps with Link’s gliding in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Regardless of the chosen method, players will have access to the chest with the Frostbite Trousers once they reach the small entrance inside the Hebra Headspring Cave.
How To Get Frostbite Shirt In Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom
The next piece in the Frostbite set in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is the Frostbite Shirt. Unlike the place where the Frostbite Trousers item is hidden, the location of the Frostbite Shirt does not require any Cold Resistance preparation. It is, however, also in the northwest portion of the map, slightly southeast of Rito Village. The place’s name is Brightcap Cave, and its exact location is -3009, 1610, 0195. The entrance to it is on a cliffside and is fairly easy to locate, especially during the daytime.
Have a fire-spreading item in your inventory, like a Fire Fruit or Fire Arrow, as you will need to burn down some thorns.
There is no major trick in getting to the chest that contains the Frostbite Shirt. By following the cave’s path in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you will have to face many enemies, all of which can be a challenge for early-game players. However, by heading deeper into the cave and climbing its spiraling path, they will encounter the chest, which is blocked off by a thorn fence. Simply burn it down, and you should be able to reach the chest without any complications.
How To Get Frostbite Headdress In Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom
The last piece in the Frostbite set in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is the Frostbite Headdress, which essentially looks like a crown. This item is located at the north end of Lake Kilsie, inside a cave called Lake Kilsie Cave. Its entrance is small and easily missable. The exact coordinates for the location are -3929, 2849, -0015. The short path that leads to the cave has an enemy, which can either be ignored or eliminated. What is important is reaching the upward wind current at the end of the path.
Players will need an explosive item to clear the path to the chest to obtain this piece.
Once players reach the wind current, they will want to jump in, open their Glider, and then look to the east, where they will see some icicles hanging. Behind these icicles is a hidden cave in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. To access it, players will need to blow up a destructible wall. ConCon, for example, attaches a Bomb Flower to his arrow, which allows him to shoot the wall and open up the passage. Once it is destroyed, the last step is to glide over to the small entrance and claim the Frostbite Headdress from the chest.
Using the Frostbite set may not be practical in most portions of the game, as it requires low temperatures to see both its regular and bonus effects to be activated. Nevertheless, this is a great armor set to employ while exploring the cold regions around Rito when Cold Resistance is no longer an issue and players are searching for more damage output. Each piece has a 2 base Defense stat, which can later be upgraded with a Great Fairy in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
