- My candy tastes resemble that of a 5-year old. Favorite candies? Pez and Smarties – and not the weird Canadian chocolate ones, but the delicious ones that are a cousin of sweet tarts. I also could eat an entire box of Gobstoppers in one sitting (don’t judge).
- Whenever I have a free morning, I’m on the golf course. And recently, I had my first Eagle ever, draining a 6-foot putt for a big celebration. But I’ve never had a hole-in-one and not only that, have never had any near-misses. More likely, I just miss the green. (face palm emoji).
- I met my wife Leah in Mississippi while covering Mississippi State for the Clarion-Ledger, the first of four states we’ve lived in together. The others are Alabama, Texas, Massachusetts and New York. Lots of different license plates. I think we’re done moving for a while (ever), though.
- My first car was a red Ford Mustang convertible, automatic and a V6 lol. I loved that car, even if everyone else rolled their eyes. I drove it down from New York to Mississippi for my first full-time job after college, top down the entire way.
- I have two sons – Max (10) and Jude (8.5) – and I spend most afternoons and weekends helping coach their many sports. From baseball to flag football to wrestling to golf and tennis, I’ll lend a hand when I can, giving them just another opportunity to ignore me and do it the way they wanted to do it, anyway.

- No, I don’t have six phones. I have one phone. I am a FIRM believer in one phone. I only have one mouth and two pockets. Why would I need multiple phones? Plus, if I need to tweet something mid-conversation, I can just put the phone on speaker. Not my first rodeo.
- On weekends, you can find grilling or smoking meat, usually at home or at our beach club. The proper way to spend free time. But… I’m always clean shaven and ready to jump on TV if news breaks and I have to race home. My wife is always happy to take over the grill, if needed, and do it better.
- I’ve been to three Kentucky Derby and this year was the first time we attended all three triple crown races in one year. It’s so fun! That’s a lot of suit changes for me and different hats for Leah. This year, we actually walked on the track before the Derby with our horse Jace’s Road, a mind-blowing experience.
- While I focus on football now, in college at Columbia, I was a lightweight rower. Our crew team won the Ivy League title by a nose, one of the most thrilling wins I’ve experienced (it wasn’t my boat, so I had a good view).
- My two biggest fears in life are heights and not having wifi. Let’s just say… flying is an adventure! So many nerves.
And we got a bonus 11th fun fact!
- Despite spending hours and hours on the computer, I’m actually a truly terrible typer. I make a million mistakes and really only use six or so of my fingers. One of these days, I’ll learn to type a little bit better. Or, at least, that’s what I tell myself.
