Netflix’s new Thai Drama Ready, Set, Love brought the dystopian plot with a twist. After six episodes of equal portions of drama and romance, Ready, Set, Love delivered a satisfying ending.

Thai dramas are slowly catching global viewers’ attention after the K-drama wave. Netflix has already teased several dramas and movies scheduled to release in 2024, starting with Ready, Set, Love.

Ending of Netflix Thai drama Ready, Set, Love explained

Netflix’s Thai drama Ready, Set, Love started as a mushy rom-com but progressed into a Dystopian comedy thriller. The drama begins by showing a world where men are an endangered species living in ‘The Farm.’ Women fight (quite literally) to win their hearts by entering a competition called Ready, Set, Love.

Day is an ordinary woman who never aspired to win a man’s heart through the popular dating survival show. But she joins the game as a lucky contestant after her sister, May, entered her name. Day meets Son, one of the show’s most popular male participants, and learns about his real identity later.

Son tells Day all about the atrocities of the Farm and how a manufactured facade is making mothers give up their sons to make them stay inside the system. The pair chooses to expose the farm’s evil doings with the help of Day’s friend Valentine, who has joined Ready, Set, Love as a staff.

In the penultimate episode, Valentine hacks the system and shows a video of how mothers who choose not to obey the Firm are suffering inside a confined space, forcibly medicated.

The finale of Ready, Set, Love shows a positive ending where Chanel chooses her real love, Max, despite knowing that her mother, the most powerful woman on the Farm, wants her to choose Son.

But not everyone makes the ‘right choice.’ One of the male participants, Almond, chooses to betray Son and the group. But his betrayal fails when the show’s head, Jenny sides with Day and Son’s plan.

Almond stays inside the Farm even after learning Valentine is his sister. Day, Son, and Paper escape the Farm after leaking their truth to the world with Valentine’s help. The group learns about Almond’s betrayal before leaving.

Almond tells the group that he considers the Farm his true home, and nothing can make him leave.

Day and Son start a new life outside the Farm in the City Ground with Day’s sister, May. Paper also finds his love of life, the singer Chun. Jenny comes to the City Ground with her partner to start her afresh.

The show ends with a fast-forward scene where Son and May have become parents with a baby boy four years later. The couple is living in the City Grounds, writing happily ever after.

Review of Netflix’s Ready, Set, Love

Ready, Set, Love delivers a feel-good romantic drama with all the elements of a Dystopian thriller. The main cast, Blue Pongtiwat Tangwancharoen (Son), Belle Kemisara Paladesh (Day), Lilly Nichapalak Thongkham (Chanel), and Man Trisanu Soranun (Almond), stun the audience with their brilliant portrayals of the characters.

By keeping the series limited to only six episodes, Ready, Set, Love keeps the suspense intact until the end. On IMDb, viewers have rated the show a solid 7.3. On MyDramaList, Ready, Set, Love received an 8.3 rating.

After a tremendous first season, Thai drama viewers are eager to get another season of Ready, Set, Love, but Netflix has yet to greenlight the drama’s renewal.
