Blake Lively has been a style standout since her Gossip Girl days (XOXO!), but — while promoting her latest film, It Ends With Us — she is in full bloom.
The actress, who plays florist Lily Bloom in the adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel, is known for doing her own styling. The fashion lover puts together her own outfits and accessories for red carpets, explaining that it’s a way to express her creativity. She also looks to her characters for inspiration, leaning into method dressing, and has been “honoring Lily” while promoting the film, in theaters Aug. 9.
See Lively’s very on theme fashion choices, including one that’s also a nod to a pop star she admires — Britney Spears.

For the film’s New York City premiere, Lively wore this colorful 2002 vintage one-shoulder Versace dress that was covered in sequin pink, blue, yellow and purple flowers as well as butterflies. While it checked the box on the floral theme, it was also a nod to Spears, who wore it in a Versace Fall 2002 runway show.
She shared more about the selection on Instagram, calling Spears “the ultimate queen who made us all want to sparkle and write and share our stories.” (Could it also be a play to be cast in the recently announced Spears biopic?)
For the after-party at Tavern on the Green, Lively changed into a bright pink corset minidress with floral detailing throughout that she paired with a purse in the shape of a flower.

Lively has bloomed in many different looks as she’s hopped around New York City doing TV appearances and promotion. She dipped into the personal archive of Dauphinette designer Olivia Cheng, who hand-painted the styles, including this set that she wore sans shirt to CBS Mornings.
She switched into a longer skirt with a similar painted design, which Cheng said she did on her bedroom floor, paired with a vibrant tank.
For the launch lunch of her new hair care line, Blake Brown, it was all in the daisy detailing in this Chanel look. Lively was decked in black with the low-cut top with cutouts. She had another bag, by the same brand, in the shape of a bud and floret rings on many fingers.
She put her own spin on the power skirt suit with a daisy motif.
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants actress has worn several pieces of denim during the press tour. This time, she paired these beaded jeans with a see-through beaded top over Versace undergarments.
These weren’t typical bottoms, either. Hello, chaps! And not just any — chaps with floral embroidery.

Lively was all about the bright, bold floral bottoms over a dotted, unbuttoned dress while out in New York City.

Lively was tickled hot pink for an appearance at Betty Blooms Pop-Up in New York City’s Chelsea neighborhood. Barbie Blake wore Dauphinette’s Doris dress with the brand’s Flora Chainmaille top and belt along with Péro’s LTD NO.67 handwoven wool jacket which was hand-embroidered with florals.
The same day, she also wore this strapless bouquet of a dress.
She had a more casual moment as well, going top to bottom in this floral look, including Chanel jeans and bud bag.

Lively knows how to work a set. This Elie Saab ensemble had multiple pieces, including the long sparkly jacket. Underneath, a sheer top showed her bra, and the floral pants went on for days on her long legs.

Lively spread her feathers in New York City in another Dauphinette dress, the made-to-order “Heaven Is a Place on Earth,” which required 300-plus hours of sewing to create. Daisies are part of the elaborate design.
Lively appeared to have fun swinging the skirt of this 1994 vintage Vivienne Westwood dress — and was a walking garden party.
From long to short, she also wore this sparkly Dauphinette dress, with flowers on the front and back.

We mentioned she’s been rocking denim, but not your average jeans. With this lewk, from Cinq à Sept, she declared, “Stretchy dark denim with iron on crystals is back!” Under the blazer is a crop top with flowers too.

Lively showed her commitment to floral fashion yet again in this negligee-inspired Michael Kors lace dress.

While promoting another film, Deadpool & Wolverine — starring her husband, Ryan Reynolds, in which she has a cameo — her Ladypool-inspired Atelier Versace catsuit didn’t scream Lily Bloom until you zoomed in for the details. “All the embroidery on the catsuit was flowers, so I was still honoring Lily,” she told People.
That night she made an outfit change into a red and blue Balmain mini that featured 3D roses along the top and bottom. (Perfect for a hang with 4/5 of NSync.)

Another fun skirt to twist and shout in was this Bode outfit, with a full, swinging skirt, teeny bralette top and jacket all with beaded flower designs.

She showed Balmain love earlier as well. Here she is in the brand’s beaded minidress at the Book Bonanza in Dallas.
During the Dallas trip, she also wore jeans featuring floral cutouts — and helped iron floral appliqués on co-star Brandon Sklenar’s bottoms.

If only we knew where this was all headed. One of her earliest Bloom-inspired outfits was this one that she wore to the Tribeca Festival Artists Dinner in New York City.
Lively talked about her press tour fashion to People, saying, “I’m a pretty shy person, so if I’m going to go somewhere, I tend to choose a character. It’s like, ‘What Spice Girl am I today? Or which character of Sex in the City?’”
She said she loves that other stars have been wearing fashion inspired by their movie roles — like Zendaya’s tenniscore from Challengers and Margot Robbie’s pink parade for Barbie — because method dressing has long been her thing. She pointed to the 2018 A Simple Favor press tour, when she wore suits like her character. She said it helps people to pay attention to her movies.
In It Ends with Us, Lively actually wore some of her own clothes — like a pair of see-through boots, she told Today. She also borrowed a bunch of wardrobe pieces from her model pal Gigi Hadid’s closet and a few from Reynolds too.
