Arrow Video, with domestic sales and distribution expertise provided by MVD Entertainment Group, has a new 4K restoration of director Oliver Hirschbiegel’s 2007 film adaptation of writer Jack Finney’s 1955 sci-fi novel, “The Body Snatchers.”

The street date for the 4K Ultra HD edition will be Nov. 12

Titled The Invasion, it marked the fourth time that Finney’s book had been adapted for the screen — director Don Siegel’s Invasion of the Body Snatchers in 1956, followed the remake by Philip Kaufman in 1978 and director Abel Ferrara’s misguided Body Snatchers in 1993.

Hirschbiegel, working with a script by David Kajganich (Bones and All), changes it from “seed pods” to an alien virus that turns its victims into lobotomized strangers.

Bonus goodies for this 4K Ultra HD presentation of The Invasion include a newly-prepared commentary by the co-hosts of the “The Faculty of Horror” podcast, Andrea Subisati and Alexandra West, two new “visual essays” — “Body Snatchers and Beyond” and “That Bug That’s Going Around” — and four archival featurettes — “We’ve Been Snatched Before,” “The Invasion: A New Story,” “The Invasion: On the Set” and “The Invasion: Snatched.”
