This will be all over social media in a major way. Tweets will be flying.
Yes, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment, through
its 20th Century Studios label — which was foreshadowed with the recent
physical media launch of Boogeyman — will
be releasing director Dan Trachtenberg’s Prey as a
full-spread home entertainment packaged media purchasing option on Oct. 03.
A favorite target of “helper” activity, with multiple
DVD and Blu-ray editions churned out beginning as early as July 22 of last year,
Prey is
the natural extension of the Predator —
and by the cross-over association, the Alien —
film franchise series of films.
Planned for released are stand-alone DVD and Blu-ray
editions as well as a 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray Combo Pack SKU.
Bonus features, which are limited to the 4K Ultra HD
and Blu-ray selections, begin with commentary featuring Dan Trachtenberg, who
is joined by the film’s star Amber Midthunder (as Naru … also as Rosa in the Roswell,
New Mexico series, plus such films as The Ice
Road, Priceless, Hell or High Water, She’s Missing, etc.),
cinematographer Jeff Cutter (10 Cloverfield Lane, A Nightmare on
Elm Street (2010), Gridiron Gang) and
editor Angela M. Catanzaro (Emmy nominated for her work here).
Additionally, there are two deleted scenes (with
optional commentary), an alternative opening scene (with commentary), the “Prey
Emmy For Your Consideration Panel” and the featurette titled “Making of Prey.”
