Because of the extensive ship design system in Starfield, it was without question that players would try to recreate ships from other sci-fi games, such as Mass Effect and its iconic ship, The Normandy. However, replicating that ship is a massive undertaking that will require significant time and credits before you see yourself in the cockpit.

Thankfully, you don’t have to tackle these massive blueprints alone, as the community has shared their design for The Normandy in Starfield. By following the steps for this design, You will be able to build The Normandy in a fraction of the time it would take you to do so off the top of your head. This build can be completed at level zero, and you do not need to have completed any factions or story missions before constructing this ship.

Parts Required For The Normandy

According to Reddit user Bizzle94588, you will need to use The Frontier as your base ship to start this build. Furthermore, you will want to start this build in New Atlantis as you can buy all the necessary parts for part one of this build from the ship services technician in New Atlantis, Jemison.

Once you have prepped part one, you will need to fly over to Akila to finish the build. As a result, you will need to add parts in New Atlantis to make the ship flyable to Akila, which you will then sell when you start part two. Thankfully, you won’t have to waste credits because all these parts are scrapped from The Frontier.

The total cost to complete this build is between 110,000 and 150,000 Credits, so you will want to make money in Starfield fast. One of the best ways to do that is to create your own Outpost XP farm in Starfield.

You will need to start this build in New Atlantis and then fly to Akila to complete it. As a result, watch part one of Bizzle‘s YouTube video to learn how to build your ship with the parts outlined above. Once you’ve landed in Akila City and bought all the necessary parts for part two (outlined below), refer to part two of Bizzle’s video to see how to finish the build.

Part 2

Once you have arrived in Akila and are at the Ship Services Technician in Akila City, you will want to sell the NG-2 Docker-Top, the two White Dwarf 2020 Engines, the M10 Ulysses He3 Tank, and the four NG-10 Landing Gear. These are all parts from The Frontier that you’re now scrapping to finish the build.

It’s also worth noting that the engine in this Normandy build has two variations. The one that’s recommended is the SA-4110 Engine; however, players may need to be at a higher level to use that engine. Players are encouraged to use the Amun-3 Engine instead if that’s the case.

Completing The Normandy Build

A Custom Normandy ship created in Starfield using the ship builder mechanic

Bizzle’s video outlines the steps for building parts one and two of The Normandy in Starfield. However, you should be aware that the names of certain parts change when they are flipped over. Nonetheless, all the parts you need to buy are listed above. So, if you’ve purchased all the parts but can’t locate a specific one mentioned in the video, it’s most likely because it needs to be rotated.

When you finish part two of The Normandy build in Starfield, the build is nearly finished; all you need now is some color. Of course, the primary colors used in Mass Effect are black, white, and a hint of blue, but you can go any style you want. You may also want to rename your ship, The Normandy. Either way, thanks to Starfield‘s comprehensive ship-building system, you will be fighting off space pirates Mass Effect style.
