Warning! Spoilers ahead for Titans: Beast World #5!Peacemaker finally finds out what Nightwing’s contingency plan is for him and it’s much funnier than fans may have expected. Dick Grayson sets out to make Amanda Waller pay for her crimes in “Beast World”, but when he runs into Christopher Smith, Nightwing demonstrates the best way of disarming him.

In Titans: Beast World #5 by Tom Taylor, Ivan Reis, and Eduardo Pansica, Amanda Waller reveals herself to the public and takes credit for killing the transformed Beast Boy. She also announces a series of coordinated strikes to kill off the remaining animal-human hybrids.

Nightwing and the Titans track Waller down to the Bureau of Sovereignty’s headquarters and infiltrate it to stop her. However, Peacemaker is ready to take Nightwing down. When Smith critiques Grayson for not protecting his head with a helmet, Nightwing shows how dangerous that is by flipping Peacemaker’s helmet around his head to blind him.

Nightwing Can Take Peacemaker Down Just By Flipping His Helmet

Peacemaker Defeated DC

Ever since Amanda Waller was given the green light to eliminate the Earth’s metahuman population, Peacemaker has been by her side serving as her willing enforcer. He traveled to Lazarus Island to retrieve the Helmet of Hate, kept an eye on teams Waller deemed problematic like the Titans and the Doom Patrol, and kidnapped anyone Waller’s needed to. Peacemaker has been Waller’s most devoted confidante in her current mission and he’s participated gladly knowing that Waller is on a mission to bring peace to the DC Universe (or so he believes).

Nightwing excels at improvisation and even if he didn’t have a contingency in mind for Peacemaker, Dick knew the kind of danger a loosely-adhered helmet can be to its user. To Smith’s credit, he’s a good fighter and marksman and most aren’t going to get close enough to get their hands on his headgear. But Dick isn’t like most of the people Peacemaker fights, so of course he’d be able to easily reach Smith’s helmet. While it’s an embarrassing moment for him, Peacemaker can learn from this experience about how dangerous it is to wear a helmet in the field.

Peacemaker Needs to Upgrade His Costume ASAP

Peacemaker Tries Hard 6 Cover DC

Peacemaker’s helmet might be iconic and protect his head from devastating blows, but as Nightwing’s move shows, it puts Smith at a serious disadvantage. Granted, for a mortal man like Smith, it makes sense to ensure his head is protected when taking on metahumans. But it doesn’t do him any good if someone can just spin his headgear around and easily blind him. Maybe it’s about time Smith ditches his much-criticized helmet for good and find himself a better, more sensible kind of head protection. It might not be what Peacemaker’s used to, but it would keep people like Nightwing from easily defeating him.
