The world Eiichiro Oda created is coming to Netflix in series form on August 31st, boasting a cast that includes Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, and Emily Rudd as Nami. The journey of Monkey D. Luffy and his companions to find the hidden ‘One Piece’ treasure was brought to the screen in part by show creators Steven Maeda and Matt Owens.

Screen Rant is excited to announce more of the creative team behind One Piece, namely composers, songwriters, and music producers Sonya Belousova and Giona Ostinelli. As the Netflix show brings iconic One Piece scenes to live-action, the pair will boost the thrills and emotion through song and underscore alike. Here’s what Belousova and Ostinelli had to say about being a part of the series:

We’re thrilled to have been invited by Netflix, Matt Owens, Steve Maeda, and Tomorrow Studios to become part of the Straw Hats crew and craft the ONE PIECE live action music universe by serving as composers, songwriters, and music producers for the live action adaptation of the beloved manga. We have plenty of surprises in store for fans of the franchise and new fans. It will be an incredible adventure with songs and virtuosic flamenco guitar, hip-hop and big band jazz funk fusion, folk and circus, rap and big epic swashbuckling orchestra, featuring extraordinary artists. We’re so excited to set sail for ONE PIECE when it premieres on Netflix August 31!

More About the Music of One Piece

In addition to crafting the musical identity of the show itself, Sonya Belousova and Giona Ostinelli will be releasing a collection of their One Piece music in October. The upcoming 8-track EP, titled “A Mighty Heart Beating Like A Drum”, features incredible guest artists including System of a Down’s Serj Tankian, former Nightwish singer Tarja, and DL of Bad Wolves. Belousova and Ostinelli said this about the release:

This EP is a journey. Whether filled with excitement or sorrow, every tale is a journey of discovery and growth as you open yourself up to the unknown, embracing the highs and lows that come your way. It’s movement, spirit, never stillness but always boundless energy and a sense of purpose. With a mighty heart beating like a drum, you leap into the rushing waters. Though afraid of the unknown, deep down, you know you have the strength and resilience to navigate the turbulent currents. It’s a twisted road winding up ahead full of challenges and unexpected turns, but if you stay on course and follow your courageous heart, it will lead you home.

We’re so excited to have such exceptional artists joining us on this journey, bringing the tales to life with their unique artistry, and crafting a truly extraordinary and captivating experience. Let the adventure begin!

Belousova and Ostinelli have collaborated before on a number of exciting projects, but they may be best known for their work on Netflix’s The Witcher. The pair crafted one of the best songs from The Witcher, “Toss A Coin To Your Witcher”, which became a viral sensation and reached #1 on Billboard’s rock song sales chart. Given their history, their clear passion for One Piece, and their list of impressive guest performers and artists, the music of Belousova and Ostinelli is surely something to look forward to when the series drops in August.

One Piece will be released on Netflix on August 31st, and the “A Mighty Heart Beating Like A Drum” EP is set for release in October.
