Today’s revisit…
tick, tick…Boom!
This afternoon I needed something, not sure what that was, but when I sat back down to experience the Lin-Manuel Miranda effort starring Andrew Garfield I immediately knew what I needed today. Feeling.
Andrew Garfield as Jonathan Larson |
A feeling of hope, a feeling of fear, a feeling of anger, a feeling of confusion, and most of all a feeling that anything is possible, even in today’s crazy world.
I love a good musical but Boom is so much more than just a musical – the tale of the life of Jonathan Larson goes deeper. It deals with relationships and the creative process. It deals with those that get left behind either inadvertently or on purpose. And it makes us evaluate the choices we make in relations to those who love us.
Let’s be honest the music is pretty awesome as well. All songs that you want to sing, all talents that inhabit your soul. Boom is a delight and will be enjoyed for years to come.
This was a fun revisit, and maintains all of what it possessed to get it nominated – but will it get my vote or the awards – tune in March 13.
tick, tick…Boom! is currently (2.27.22) available to view on Netflix.
