Road House remake star Daniela Melchior praises her UFC fighter costar Conor McGregor, who she says was very enthusiastic about his first acting job in the film. Serving as a reimagining of the 1989 film of the same name starring Patrick Swayze, the upcoming Road House remake is directed by Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity, Edge of Tomorrow) and stars Jake Gyllenhaal. McGregor, who is best known as a professional mixed martial artist, appears in the film as well, although it’s unclear who he will be playing.
While many details regarding McGregor’s role in the Road House remake remain unknown, Melchior reveals in an interview with Collider that the UFC fighter took his role in the film very seriously. The actor recalls feeling “surprised” by McGregor’s work ethic, and says that it was “amazing to watch” him take on his debut role “in such a fun and humble way.” Check out Melchior’s other comments about McGregor below:
“He was so excited. It was so fun to see a fully grown man doing something for the first time, and he really looked like a young kid doing something for the first time.”
Everything We Know About The Road House Remake
While McGregor and Melchior’s roles remain shrouded in mystery, Gyllenhaal is confirmed to be leading the Road House remake. Gyllenhaal unveiled a shredded physique earlier this year, filming scenes for the movie at a real UFC event and delivering a brutal knockout to his opponent. McGregor himself shared kind words about his Road House experience with Gyllenhaal, highlighting that the experienced actor was “patient” with him while filming.
In addition to its real UFC event filming, the Road House remake was also filmed in the Dominican Republic, with the first official images shared by the production showing Gyllenhaal and McGregor filming in and around the ocean. In addition to Gyllenhaal, McGregor, and Melchior, the upcoming film will also feature performances from Billy Magnussen (No Time To Die), Joaquim de Almeida (Fast Five), Lukas Gage (Euphoria), and Jessica Williams (Shrinking), among others.
The Road House remake is expected to hit theaters at some point this year, but the film doesn’t yet have an official release date. If the movie does end up eying a fall or winter 2023 release, audiences can probably expect the first trailer to drop at some point this summer. Although a number of questions remain regarding the Road House remake, it seems like McGregor is taking his first acting role as seriously as he takes his career as a UFC fighter.
