Shout! Studios has locked into Nov. 12 as the street date for a 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray Combo Pack “Limited Edition” of director Oliver Stone’s 1989 film adaptation of Ron Kovic’s 1976 biographical novel, Born on the Fourth of July, starring Tom Cruise as Vietnam War veteran Ron Kovic.
This is a new 4K film restoration from the original camera negative (supervised by Stone himself).
The 4K Ultra HD presentation of Born on the Fourth of July has two separate commentary options. The first is a vintage Oliver Stone commentary, while the second is a newly-prepared one featuring film critic Matt Zoller Seitz.
The companion Blu-ray disc contains the same commentary options, plus the Edie Brickell and New Bohemians’ music video, “A Hard Rain’s Gonna Fall,” and three new video sessions featuring filmmaker Oliver Stone, associate producer Clayton Townsend and Special Makeup Effects Artist Gordon J. Smith.
