The upcoming release of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has a lot of people thinking about investing in the franchise for the first or twentieth time, but there’s one way to do so that can actually save a lot of money. Like many current-generation titles, FF7 Rebirth carries a price tag of $69.99, which isn’t that historically high when accounting for inflation, but can still carry a serious sting. Checking most storefronts would make it seem like there aren’t any good deals on the game, but anyone who doesn’t yet have a copy of FF7 Remake actually has a great option.

Going directly through the digital PlayStation Store presents the unique package of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake & Rebirth Twin Pack, which bundles FF7 Rebirth and the PS5 Intergrade version of FF7 Remake together for a grand total of – unexpectedly – $69.99. For anyone planning on buying FF7 Rebirth at launch anyway, this bundles the prior game for absolutely nothing. Even fans who played FF7 Remake before but skipped out on the PS5/PC exclusive Intermission DLC will still benefit from this deal, as FF7 Remake Intergrade includes it by default.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Review: Midgar Like You’ve Never Seen Before

Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 7 Remake is an amazing journey through Midgar that breathes life into the city – and its characters – like never before.

The FF7 Remake & Rebirth Twin Pack Is A Perfect Deal

Cloud as he appears in FF7 Remake and Rebirth, facing the camera and reaching behind his head to grab the Buster Sword.

Aside from the obvious price point advantage, the big appeal of this twin pack is the importance of playing Final Fantasy 7 Remake before FF7 Rebirth. Unlike most Final Fantasy games, the trilogy of remakes is all one contained storyline, and jumping in with FF7 Rebirth misses out on a lot of important context for the characters and story. Even playing the original Final Fantasy 7 first is a somewhat inadequate setup, as the remake makes some changes in its approach to the narrative that should flow better into FF7 Rebirth‘s continuation.

As for the included Intermission DLC, it introduces the character Yuffie Kisaragi and follows a few other story beats that help transition between the two main titles. It isn’t as integral to the overall experience as FF7 Remake itself, but Intermission is still helpful for full context, which made its lack of a PS4 release frustrating when the PS5 was struggling with supply issues. Intermission can be bought as a separate upgrade for a standard copy of FF7 Remake, but anyone planning on buying a digital copy of FF7 Rebirth would be better off getting it through the Twin Pack.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Episode INTERmission Review: Star-Making Quality

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Episode INTERmission is an excellent addition that transforms Yuffie from sidekick to hero with surprising deftness.

Final Fantasy 7 is upheld as one of the all-time greatest RPGs for a reason, and the remake trilogy project is an exciting way to experience it on current-generation hardware. Starting the story is an especially good decision for new PS5 owners, as the substantial length of FF7 Remake (and the presumably bigger FF7 Rebirth) should be an easy way to stay occupied for a while. The Final Fantasy 7 Remake & Rebirth Twin Pack might not be interesting to FF7 Remake Intergrade owners, but for anyone else interested in the games, it’s a deal that shouldn’t be missed.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth New Poster-2

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is the sequel to Final Fantasy 7 Remake and will see Cloud and his friends set off beyond the walls of Midgar to explore the world, stop Sephiroth’s machinations, and see the world outside their slum prison. Now that the whispers of fate no longer guide the characters along the pre-destined path set in the original PlayStation classic Final Fantasy 7, the heroes (and villains) will shape the future. The game will still visit prominent locales and revisit crucial story points, but it will be a more significant departure from the first game from the source material.
